The last time someone looked at this site was October 13th. And so the cycle continues. I think, "if you update, they will read." So I updated a few times and nothing. Now I'm thinking, "why bother updating when no one reads the stinking page anyhow?"
I'm talking rot really but it seems a vain effort to write and attempt to be engaging when no one notices you, doesn't it?
Yesterday was the "family reunion" for my dad's side of the family. The same side of the family I didn't see on Thanksgiving and the same side of the family I will most likely not see on Christmas. I was already in the family doghouse for not coming over on Thanksgiving and I didn't show up for the reunion either. Looks like Dad won't be the solitary black sheep anymore. I'm sure my missing two (soon to be three) family events has well secured me the title of black sheep #2. Oh well. Don't get me wrong, I'm not quite as nonchalant as I seem. I mean, they're family and I love them. Some of them. Okay, a few of them. But it's too emotionally and mentally draining to be around the rest of them for any given time. The hypocrites, the gossips, the holier-than-thous, the two-faces, the phonies...it's more than I can handle.
Maybe I'm afraid of seeing part of myself in these people. Their quality represents that which I hope I never become but secretly fear I will. At any rate, I don't intend to partake in any sort of extended visit come December 25th.
Not like I'll be up for much of anything on Christmas Day. I'll be working from 7 pm Christmas Eve to 7 am Christmas Day. Joy.
Speaking of Christmas, I've nearly finished my shopping. I just have to pick up something for Dad, a couple of things for Mom, and two gifts for co-workers. One more shopping excursion should do the trick...
Gotta run for now, presents are calling me, begging to be wrapped. Then I'll probably write out my Christmas cards and drop them at the post office this afternoon, if all goes well.
