J's Visit - 19 July 2003 . 21:41
There won't be any interesting update as promised in my last post. Sue me. I don't feel right recounting the events in entirety here since the visit was so much different than I expected.
J arrived on Friday evening, a little later than expected since he passed my house twice before realizing it was the right place. He came down directly from work so one of the first things he did was take a shower and get cleaned up. We spent most of last night just talking and relaxing, which is how we spent most of today as well.
I can't even begin to describe how wonderful it was to spend time just hanging out with J again. It had been six years since we'd seen each other but it was like nothing had changed. Which, of course, is not true because we've changed, but we're still on the same wavelength. That in itself is so very refreshing. Until these past two days I haven't felt like I've connected with anyone in ages.
There was no pressure. I didn't feel like I had to be anything or anyone but me for change. We were both completely relaxed and the only thing I regret is that time, as usual, slipped by so quickly. The time between J's arrival and departure seems like a blur...
It was a great weekend and completely worth every moment of anxiety I experienced waiting for J's arrival. For some reason I noticed myself being more domestic once J got here. It wasn't the usual hostess behavior such as fetching drinks and the like, it was something more, well, downright domestic. Hard to explain and even harder to understand.
Well, that's it for now. The 14 month stretch is over and life seems good...if only for the moment.
