Notice anything....different?

Yeah, that's right. I didn't wait 3 weeks between updates this time! Yay for you, the loyal (or disloyal or simply passer-by) reader.

I have so much I want to write about that I barely know where to begin! That's a change, I'm usually boring the crap outta you saying I have nothing to write about. "Boofrickityhoo, I don't have anything to say!" Hehe.

I have three very close friends who are experiencing depression right now, which sucks. One is experiencing a drunken depression, the temporary kind that springs up with the steady disappearance of alcohol and disappears with the coming of the hangover. The other two are experiencing long-term, more serious depressions.

Being a friend to someone that's depressed sucks. It doesn't suck in the sense that I'm so self-absorbed that I'm tired of listening to their problems. It sucks in the sense that someone I care for greatly is going through a very difficult time and I feel as if I'm just sitting here with my hands tied. I hate being unable to make things better. I especially hate feeling helpless or unhelpful (if that's a word?)

What sucks even worse is that one of these people is stuck in this vicious cycle. There is one thing this person can do to greatly reduce the amount of their depression but they are unable to do so because it they'd have to keep their depression at bay long enough to accomplish this feat. It's like they're carrying around this huge boulder and they've gotta take it from point A to point B. But the boulder is blocking their view and they can't see point B so they keep circling point A instead of putting the boulder under their arm and making it to point B. And I'm standing here watching this person wanting to scream "PUT THE DAMN THING UNDER YOUR ARM AND GO TO POINT B!!" Unfortunately this person is very, very sensitive, like myself, and saying such a thing would definitely cause a huge rift in our relationship.

Yeah, that probably didn't make one iota of good sense but it's the best analogy I can come up with since I don't want to get into serious detail here.

So what the heck is one supposed to do in this type of situation? You see someone taking the hard way about it and you know an easier, less painful way. Do you keep your yap shut and let them figure it out or do you muster up the guts to tell them in a friendly "just suggesting" manner?

My 14 (or 15) year old cousin, Jessica, is in the process of fixing me up with one of her boyfriend's older friends. Okay, I felt like a loser at first since 1) she's a high-schooler playing match-maker for my 25 year old single self and 2) I'm such a loser I have to be fixed up....but I reconsidered. You know, seeing how I work 12 hour shifts, and seeing how I work nights, and seeing how the only men I see at work are truck drivers, it's only natural my social life has become non-existent. So I figure if nothing else I'll meet the guy and if it doesn't work out, no big deal. Maybe I'll end up with another friend.

But Ncrebel21, you've got enough friends, you need a man.

Maybe, but what the hell. He's a 21 year old prison guard (better the guard than the inmate, eh?) and from what I've heard he's quite nice. I've chatted with him by phone a couple of times but since our schedules are so much alike (just at opposite times) it's been impossible to meet thus far.

Hehe. "Here's to you, Mrs. Robinson..."

The news just reported that a juror in an upcoming case was dismissed yesterday because she can't read. I'm wondering how she figured out the jury summons if she can't read? And how would the court test such a thing? "Read this." "I can't." "Okay, you're excused." How many other jurors kicked themselves for not trying that before??

That's it for today, time for bed now.
