No title...hehe. - 27 February 2003 . 08:01

Let me first give a belated "welcome" to my second cousin, Matthew Aidan, born February 20th. Maybe it's lame to mention that but I really don't care...I mean, it's my cousin Beckie's first baby and since she and I are pseudo-sisters, the arrival of her first child was worth a mention. At least.

Still no reply from the gutsy e-mail I sent to the one mentioned in previous entries. I'm beginning to think the attempt to re-establish communication wasn't so much gutsy as it was LAME. But it's all good. I tried and nothing happened (yet) but all is not lost.

Yeah, so I have to go entertain my great-aunt today. She slipped and broke her ankle (just the small, non-weight bearing bone) a week ago. She has been laid up ever since. She lives alone (her son is 2 hours away and too self-involved to visit more than twice a year) and judging by her phone call last night interrogating my "plans" for the next 5 weeks, she's in need of human contact.

So I will oblige her wishes and visit for a few hours. Maybe I'll bring over a movie we can watch. Kinda take the edge off her feeling she has to fill each moment with conversation. Love her but she talks too much. I'm not saying it's a character flaw or anything, she just loves to talk.

The day is rainy and dreary and (from the looks of the swaying trees) blustery so it's definitely an inside activity day.

I've been feeling so slack lately. I have all this work to do around the ol' homestead (hehe) but I have been very adept at finding reasons to put it off. I have used up most of my credible and semi-credible reasons so now I'm left with just plain ol' laziness. And that's not good.

My company never came over last night. My friend, Sherry, was supposed to drop by in the evening and my other friend (I have two friends! yay!) Chad had mentioned he might come over last night after work. Now, Chad probably tried to call but couldn't get through since I was Captain Internet all night but it's all good. He and I have crazy work schedules anyhow so hanging out is a rare and treasured thing. As for Sherry I don't know if she was just unable to get out or abducted by aliens. Guess I'll find out sooner or later.

Eye exam scheduled a week from now. I'm a bit apprehensive since I have this feeling they will give me glasses. Not that glasses are bad...I'm just not sure how I'll look with glasses. Maybe good, maybe not so different, maybe retched. You just never know. I have had people tell me to get contacts but I'm not bold enough to do such a thing. Having to place a contact lens ON MY EYEBALL is a creepy thing just to think of. Hell, I can't even LOOK at someone put in a contact. And, since we're talking about contacts, it really irks me when people (ESPECIALLY people in the office) will sit there and readjust their contact lenses. You know what I mean...they look right at you and poke their finger in their eye, retrieve the lens and readjust it. SUPER CREEPY! I cringe when they do that!! Why these people feel the need to give me the heebie jeebies is beyond me. We do have a bathroom. With a door that closes so they don't have to creep people out. I think people are just far too comfortable doing strange or creepy stuff in front of others.

In other news, I'm currently researching the history of my fair little town in order to find the date of founding. My agenda: incorporate a Founders' Day. Just because we could use another holiday. Hopefully our founding day was in the summer or spring. This means a potential parade, sidewalk sales on main street, little vendors setting up booths. Alas, I'm getting ahead of myself. So far all I've found is no date of founding, just the date of incorporation. That'll have to do.....but it's not really "Founders' Day." ~sigh~

Wow, there's some weird B movie on with Richard Gere in it. I wasn't really watching (okay maybe I was) and Richard Gere just reached over and smacked a mouthy Kim Basinger. GO RICHARD!! Just kidding. I do not condone men hitting women but I was listening to Kim drone on and I thought, "Geez, someone should smack her," and VOILA!!

Okay, enough for now. Gotta get going on this visitation thing.
