Adieu, Hurricane Isabel! No more rain and wind. Luckily none of my friends or family were hurt during Isabel's wrath. Also there was no property damage and no one I knew had to evacuate.
Even though our normal operations were skewed at work due to the storm, my shift was relatively quiet. There was no work-related-stress to carry home with me tonight. And sitting here on the futon with my sister I feel strangely relaxed. I gotta say it's not a feeling I'm used to experiencing. Normally when I get home from work I'm carrying around all this angst and it takes me about an hour to "get over" having been at work. There is so much backstabbing and petty gossipping going on in our office it's becoming impossible to have a productive day.
Even for the few people (namely me and one other co-worker) who don't participate in all the bullshit, the office environment is becoming nearly intolerable. The multitude of catty remarks, outright lies and general "hatin'" are enough to make me want to scream!
Instead, I sit at my desk and quietly do my job for 12 hours. I haven't become topic for the bullshitters yet but I know it's only a matter of time...
I digress. Leaving all the stress at work tonight seems to have affected the entire household. Usually my cats are tearing through the house at 90 mph wreaking havoc and engaging in assorted mischief. Tonight, they are curled up sleeping and looking innocent. (Key word there is "looking.")
It must be a clever ruse. They're probably plotting their next reign of destruction...
The only bad thing about not being stressed out is I sorta don't know what to do with myself. I have this nervous energy welling up and I'm not sure if I can find a positive or at least creative outlet for it. Sounds silly, doesn't it? I mean, I'm updating this site, which is all writing, which is an outlet of expressing, which should mean I'm already expressing myself and utilizing this as a creative outlet. But as I sit here typing I feel like I'm just...well, I feel like I'm not accomplishing anything! I'm not getting rid of the nervous energy. It's like being in a marching band and instead of walking or making the formation I'm just marking time....
God, I can't believe I just made a marching band reference.
